How to become a film director Laily’s Career Path How to become a film director

My Career Goals I want to become a film director by 2025 To get there, I will need to: Graduate high school by June 2020 Create a portfolio of my best film work Go into film programs to excel my abilities

What is a film director? A film director (filmmaker) is a person who creates films under their own aesthetic. A film director is essentially the “boss” of the film.

About my future career The average salary of a film director in BC is $31,300 - $104,334 you won’t be clocking-off at 5pm every day. There are no set hours for a film director.

My job has a 2.2% chance of becoming automated I think the job wont be automated because just as writers, computers cant come up with their own creative ideas.

My compatibility I am 87% compatible with this job. The skills this job requires are: Creativity Motivation Hard work Skill Drive Leadership Responsibility My compatibility

A filmmaker/director would be great for me because… I already have these skills for this career: Creativity, discipline, hard work, skill

I am not quite ready for this career, but I will get there! These are skills for the job I still need to learn: This is how I will get those necessary skills: Motivation Experience Confidence Learning

This is what appeals to me with this career… I’ve always loved movies and films and I want to create something that other people would enjoy like how I enjoy them. Being able to work on what you want to work on everyday would be nice because I hate doing the same thing everyday. Working with a lot of cool and interesting people is something I want to experience.

Job Outlook In BC, the job outlook is undetermined. But in manitoba its 2/3 stars Here are 2 reasons why: Society loves visual art and will always want something new People are always going to want new entertainment.

These are some things I find less appealing about this career… The success rate isn’t super high so being successful or even making money isn’t guaranteed Always having to come up with new ideas.

Potential obstacles to getting this career The possible obstacles: My plan to overcome them: not being talented enough Make sure I make everything perfection and work hard to learn the best techniques

Potential obstacles to being successful within this career The possible obstacles: My plan to overcome them: People not liking what I produce Be confident, not everything is for everybody.

The training/education required for my career is: A university degree or college diploma in film studies or cinematography On the field experience

I intend to go to Capilano University for that career Located in Vancouver, British Columbia Bachelor of Motion Picture Arts, 4 year program Cinematography for film and video, 1 year

High school courses required English 12 Just gotta finish high school dawg

Financial Plan The total cost of tuition is $55,207.22 I am going to pay for my program: My parents Working Scholarships Student loans

Some related occupations: Photographer Animator

Filmmakers are awesome!!! I’m excited to make really cool and uplifting films Appeal to an audience Be independent in my work The two most successful film makers did not go to film school (Steven Spielberg, James Cameron) The producers of “the terminator” wanted OJ Simpson to play him
