Press release discussions Discussion of .11h release. Suggestion was made to contact Carl Stevenson regarding FCC requiring DFS in USA Discussion of 802.15.1a release. It will be drafted by T. Siep and G. Roberts Question was raised: Is a release needed from the IEEE to clarify the relationship between IEEE and FCC? To be discussed with other Chairs.
External communications discussion Glyn Roberts discussed recent EE Times article about 802.15-3a activities A concern was raised about articles which confuse Wi-Fi with IEEE 802.11. Suggestion was made to put clearer information on the IEEE 802.11 homepage about the different groups' activities. Question was asked if there is any plan to issue a release in response to the Chinese government announcement about WAPI. WiFi has assigned a central point to coordinate any response.

Summary of Activities September 2003 IEEE 802.11/.15 Publicity Standing Committee September 16, 2003 – Singapore Summary of Activities and Future Plans The Publicity Committee (PC) held one meeting for the week of September 15, 2003 chaired by Brian Mathews PC Chair 802.11 and Glyn Roberts PC Chair for 802.15. Summary update reports were received from WiFi Alliance, WiMedia Alliance, BT Sig. Press releases were discussed for announcing the final approval of IEEE 802.11h, and also for IEEE 802.15.1a. At the IEEE 802Wireless Interim session in November the PC will receive reports from industry groups, discuss press coverage of 802.11 and 802.15, and discuss any needed changes to 802.11/15 external communications.
