Students will be challenged to read 40 books this year. This can be done in class and at home.  To improve reading skills/strategies students should read 20 minutes a night for at least five nights a week. Wednesday – Library

Watch D.O.G.S. WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student's life.  Our goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears.  Watch for more information regarding our Kick-Off in October.

Classroom Expectations This year we will be focusing on building important life skills such as working hard and participating. We’ll be using ClassDojo to give students feedback on these skills.

A Love and Logic Classroom We will treat you with respect so you will know how to treat me. Feel free to do anything that doesn’t cause a problem for yourself or anyone else. If you cause a problem, teachers will ask you to solve it. If you can’t, or choose not to, teachers will do something. The solution will depend on the person and the situation. If you feel something is unfair, whisper to me, “I’m not sure that’s fair,” and we will talk.

Homework No assignments are collected the same day as assigned. (Unless it is a quiz or a test or specified on the day’s agenda.) It is recommended that you check and sign your child’s agenda every evening. Ask to see their completed homework. Vacation Policy –no homework given in advance. Illnesses – please call the office before 9:00 a.m. if you would like to pick up homework.

Ways to stay “in touch”: How do I know what’s going on? Sign your child’s agenda every day AFTER making certain that homework is completed.
