North Carolina by Logan Derryberry

Founding Founded in 1663. Leaders/Founders :The Lord Proprietors. The Lord Proprietors planned to make money by renting and selling land Originally North and South Carolina were one colony. Split in to 2 because people were not following the laws

Important people The Lords Proprietors operated the government of the colonies and they let all religious beliefs in so they would get more people to settle in North Carolina.

Religion Religion in North Carolina was very confusing because there were several different Christian Denominations practiced there including: Anglican Roman Catholic Protestant Evangelists Baptist Episcopalian Presbyterian

Geography Consists of plateaus, coastal planes, mountain ranges and farm land. The summers were very humid and hot which were good for growing crops, but also allowed for the spread of diseases.

Natural Resources The forest and fishing were natural resources, but farming was the main one. Slaves owned by the Colonists planted, grew and harvested the crops which the Colonist sold.

Interesting Facts Carolina is the Latin name for Charles. The Pirate “Black Beard” robbed ships off the coast of North Carolina. When John White returned to Roanoke from his 2nd voyage from England to gather supplies, no-one was at the New World.

THINK ABOUT IT!!!!! Who were the 8 important people of North Carolina? What is the Latin name for Charles?
