We thank you for the opportunity to serve as your child’s Kindergarten teacher. With your support, we look forward to working with your children and watching them flourish into 1st graders. 1st 9 weeks at a Glance Reading: Reading and Writing Workshop Strategies- Comprehension-Analyze story structure. Predications, setting, character, compare/contrast High Frequency / Words: I, can, we, the, like, a, and, it, said, up, is, to, you, in, look, red Math: Subitizing / Number Sense: Counting, reading, writing, and comparing numbers 0-10 Science: The Nature of Science: What questions scientist ask, and tools they use. How scientist answer questions and share data. Matter. Social Studies: How we make our way? Celebrating Texas and the Nation. School and Community. Reminders to Students and Parents -Breakfast is from 7:30-7:45 am; school begins at 7:40 am and ends at 3:00 pm - After school pick up (3:00 pm) is located under the pavilion. -Please check your child’s homework folder for important notices daily. -Please make sure your child brings their backpack with homework folder and RED folder each day. -Please assist your child with homework and read to your child as often as possible. -Homework is due each Friday. -Discuss your child’s behavior daily. Following directions, listening to teachers, and being respectful are essential for successful learning. -Stay connected with REMIND 101.
