What is an OGC Forum ? Member led and managed, approved by the global OGC community Open to non-members (including foreign organisations doing business in Canada) Provides OGC infrastructure and staff support to support regional/country based activities The goals and objectives of OGC's regional organizations vary based on regional/country based requirements Examples; Assist in capacity building in the region/country Promote policies, cooperative business development initiatives and public/private partnerships that support the use of OGC standards. Coordinate participation in the OGC, Seek to promote OGC membership, MSC data and products are geospatial Public warnings and public forecasts Numerical weather prediction models Weather observations Satellite imagery Image source: https://wutqfm.com/fire-herkimer-leaves-homeless/

Canada - Mission Objectives/Key Activities Provide a forum for the collaboration of geospatial solution providers and users on all key components ( people/expertise, standards, technologies, operational policies, and governance) of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) with a focus on the standards pillar. Define a set of priority issues that will inform innovative development in Canada through a collective voice. Increase awareness of the benefits of using geospatial standards across all sectors, especially new and emerging sectors and markets that require more outreach and education on the value of standards. Define value chains in various thematic domains (e.g. Survey and Mapping, Environmental Monitoring, Agriculture, Maritime, Energy and Utilities) and explore means of better connecting multiple value chains to reduce duplications, increase efficiency and improve the return on investment, Grow Canadian geomatics expertise and contribute to Canada’s future geospatial capacities, Empower Canadian remote communities through online collaborations.
