Endangered Species Act (1973, 1982, 1985, 1988) Michelle Armas

Draft Year:1973 Amendment Years:1973, 1982, 1985, 1988 International The Endangered Species Act was a law signed by president Richard Nixon to stop the trend toward extinction of plants and animals. It entails the protection of endangered species from being harassed, harmed, hunted, shot, wounded, or captured. It also protects against interfering with breeding or degrading critical habitat. Climate change is one of the environmental issues affecting species because of rising sea levels leading to habitat destruction.

The federal agencies responsible are the Fish and Wildlife Service and the NOAA ( The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Legislation).
