Elapsed Time By Mrs. Stephanie Estes
Elapsed Time is the amount of time that passes from the start of an activity to the end of an activity.
For example: You want to figure out how much time you spend in school each day. If your school day starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm, how much time is that?
Next are some ways that you can find the answer!
Count Forward on the clock. School starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm, how much time is that? Count Forward on the clock. Start End
Count Forward on the clock. School starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm, how much time is that? Count Forward on the clock. Start End
Count Forward on the clock. School starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm, how much time is that? Count Forward on the clock. 7 hours End
Count backwards on the clock. School starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm, how much time is that? Count backwards on the clock. 7 hours End
Use Military Time 24 13 23 22 14 21 15 20 16 17 19 18
A military clock continues counting after 12:00 noon. 24 13 23 22 14 21 15 20 16 17 19 18
A military clock continues counting after 12:00 noon. Like this 24 13 23 22 14 21 15 20 16 19 17 18
A military clock continues counting after 12:00 noon. Like this 24 13 23 22 14 21 15 20 16 17 19 18
Find the elapsed time from 7:45 A.M. to 3:05 P.M. Think about it like a subtraction problem. Just remember: - 1 hour is equal to 60 minutes. So when you regroup, you need to add 60 to the total number of minutes, not 10 as you may be used to doing. - Add 12 to the p.m. time to get your military time. So in this problem 3:05 pm becomes 15:05
