How do scientists make sense of data? Make Tables to Organize data Create graphs to analyze data

Tables Tables are used to organize and record data Data may be measurements or observations Tables are organized into rows and columns Units of measurement in column headings

Graphs Graphs show relationships in data Circle graph – shows parts of a whole Bar graph – used to display and compare data Line graph – shows continuous change

Models Models are visual or mathematical representations of an object or system Models show things too small, large, complex or dangerous Models cannot always show everything they represent

Precision and Accuracy Scientists must be very careful when taking measurements Data is measured against a STANDARD Precision tells how reliable the results are when repeated Accuracy refers to how closely data agrees with the standard
