The United States -The U.S. wants to stay neutral -But is still selling supplies to its friends, Great Britain and France -The Germans get angry and sink the British ship, Lusitania (128 Americans die) (1915) Zimmerman Note: A note from Germany to Mexico that asks Mexico to declare war on the USA America decides to enter the war (1917)

Russia Russia Leaves because of the Russian Revolution (1917) Communists take over Russia and kill the Tsar (Russian King) and his family

End of the War America tips the balance to the side of the allies and we end up winning Belleau Wood (U.S. Marines earn the nick name Devil Dogs for their fierce fighting)  Central Powers Surrender (1918)

Treaty of Versailles Central powers sign the Treaty of Versailles (1919) Treats Germany like crap Takes away its colonies Takes away its army Made Germany pay reparations (payments for damages) Makes Germany say that the war was all their fault Ends WWI, Starts WWII

League of Nations International Organization to prevent further war President Wilson proposes Precursor to the United Nations Didn’t work because the U.S. doesn’t end up joining Didn’t have any power to stop aggression
