ADDRESS:Great Russell St, Bloomsbury, London WC1B 3DG, United Kingdom The Bristish museum is in Camden district, located north of the City of London and the Westminster City district. It is between Soho and Russell Square.

ARCHITECTS: Robert Smirke, Sydney Smirke, John Russell Pope, John James Burnet, Spencer de Gray, John Taylor. It was founded in 1753 and was initially based on the collections of physicist and scientist Hans Sloane. It opened to the public for the first time on January 15, 1759 at the Montagu House in Bloomsbury, in the current location of the museum building.

Nowadays, the British Museum is mainly a cultural museum of works of art and antiques; Even so, when it was founded, it was born with the idea of being a "universal museum". Initially, the museum nurtured the collection of works and pieces that the doctor and naturalist Sir Hans Sloane (1660-1753) had collected throughout his life.
