Secede= to separate from a nation or state and become independent. How does this relate to the states we have discussed so far in the Civil War? Explain. Secede

Retreat= movement by soldiers away from an enemy because the enemy is winning or has won a battle What is an example of a group of people who have retreated? Retreat

Regiment= a military unit that is usually made of several large groups of soldiers Use the word regiment in a sentence. Regiment

Cavalry= the part of an army that in the past had soldiers who rode horses When have you seen or heard about cavalry in the Civil War? Cavalry

Infantry= the part of an army that has soldiers who fight on foot Who is a character in Bull Run that is part of an infantry? Infantry

Bayonet= a long knife that is attached to the end of a rifle and used as a weapon in battle
