Harvey Milk Was a gay man standing up for what he believes in He made people feel safe, and brought people thousands of people together He was killed by people who felt threatened by him

What is LGBTQA? This acronym is meant to include all people and however they self-identify. L is for lesbian G is for gay B is for bisexual T is for transgender Q is for queer A is for ally.

Today’s schedule WELCOME SPEAKERS! GSA intro 3:15 Speakers 3:40 practice chants, and march protocol 3:45 March and photo! 3:55 Eat! 4:10 Three Guest Speakers 4:20 hang out with friends and meet our speakers (ask them questions so we can get ready for college and career!) 4:30 Bus

…so what has our GSA accomplished? First middle school GSA in Federal Way! National Ally Week Halloween Party and “masks we wear” National No Name Calling Week Thanksgiving Party with TJ 40+ of us presented at MLK assembly Holiday Party and Gender-bread cookie making! Learned about gender vs. sexuality Day of Silence…over 100 Students gave voice! St. Patrick’s day Party and positive messages Hawk Box Discussion – Hot topics/ideas that were on student’s minds Culinary adventures Won a Totem Community Award! Were in the Federal Way Mirror

Totem’s GSA What’s an Ally? National Ally Week Oct 13-17 Totem’s GSA What’s an Ally? A person who stand up to all bullying AND LGBTQ stereotypes, jokes, discrimination, bullying and violence. An ally is someone willing to learn. An ally offers support and respect on an individual basis and may also work to educate others, stop harassment , change policies and law, and otherwise see equal justice and respect for ALL., regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Did you know? Allies support ALL students. Students, families and staff who are gay, lesbian, transgender, questioning and straight can all be allies too! Allies step up if they see bullying. Allies believe in respect and equality.
