Comments “They are usually used for timely information that needs to be communicated to the entire college community.” “ACA meetings provide opportunities for both top down and bottom up communication on issues like assessment, transportation between campuses, and the NEASC self-study.” “The All College Assembly meetings keep the faculty and staff up to date on current issues affecting the college.”

Comments “People want to get into issues that matter to them that are neither covered by collective bargaining or pushed by either management or the union. . .”

Comments “. . .Make it interesting and they will come.” No one in administration listens. “. . .ACA is about [participatory] College Governance. What happens in ACA meeting has nothing to do with that. . .”

Comments Meetings are scheduled at inconvenient times, conflicting with faculty & staff responsibilities. “My supervisor will not let me attend.” “[I can’t comment because] I have no idea what they [the ACA and Standing Committees] are charged with.”

ACA’s Charge [The] All College Assembly [is a] “deliberative and advisory body” [created] “for the purpose of considering and recommending institutional policy and for the ongoing review of its implementation.” “It seeks to establish effective structures for input, discussion, consensus and participation in the evolution of the institutional mission and the creation of college-wide policies to enable the fulfillment of that mission.”

ACA’s Charge “The purpose of the Assembly is not to perform administration, but to advise on executive and operating policies.” “All functions and responsibilities hereinafter assigned to the Assembly are advisory in nature and are . . . delegated to the Assembly by the president of the college.” ACA Charter
