Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez saying, “Because I bore him with pain.” Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!” Jabez boldly asked God for a huge blessing.
Bless Me Indeed Enlarge My Border Let Your Hand Be With Me As only You can, and according to Your will. Enlarge My Border Surely I was born for much more than this. Let Your Hand Be With Me With a bigger ministry I’ll need more help. Keep Me From Harm When I am weak, remove all temptation.
And God granted him what he requested. Why did God say YES to Jabez’ prayer? Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. He likely had a special relationship with God. Exodus 34:6 God is good. He is “the Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering and abounding in goodness and truth.” He lives and loves to bless His children.
