“Ye Shall Know That I Am The Lord” Ezekiel “Ye Shall Know That I Am The Lord”

Ezekiel Lessons 12 – Ezekiel 23-24 A Parable of Two Immoral Sisters (Ezekiel 23) Oholah and Oholibah represent Samaria and Jerusalem (23:1-4) Oholah means “her own tent.” Oholibah means “my tent is in her” Their origins were in Egypt. They both played the harlot Samaria’s harlotry and punishment (23:5-10) She was attracted to Assyria, who ultimately defiled and destroyed her (2 Kings 16:10-18; 17:1-23) Jerusalem’s harlotry and punishment (23:11-35) Her lust for Babylon and Egypt would be her undoing. The vile adultery of both sisters would be repaid (23:36-49)

A Parable of The Boiling Pot (Ezekiel 24:1-14) Ezekiel Lessons 12 – Ezekiel 23-24 A Parable of The Boiling Pot (Ezekiel 24:1-14) This prophecy is given to Ezekiel the very day Nebuchadnezzar approached Jerusalem (24:1-2) The people thought they were safe from being burned (like meat in a pot, 11:2-3) But they would be cooked through and then all removed from the pot (24:5-6). Like her sins, Jerusalem’s punishment would be in plain sight (24:7-8) Then the pot itself would be heated so intensely that it would be completely purified (24:9-11)

Ezekiel Lessons 12 – Ezekiel 23-24 Ezekiel’s wife is taken from him (Ezekiel 24:15-27) The Lord takes away Ezekiel’s wife but forbids him to mourn or weep (24:15-17) Ezekiel spoke to the people. His wife died. He did as God had instructed. (24:18) The significance is that the people were not to openly mourn the loss of Jerusalem and the temple (24:19-24) When the news came of Jerusalem’s destruction, Ezekiel would speak of it again (24:24-27; 3:25- 27; 33:21-23)
