Guiding principles and criteria as we animate SALESIAN YOUTH MINISTRY worldwide

1. We touch base ultimately with our local communities 1. We touch base ultimately with our local communities. Our animating efforts on all levels help them to reflect, examine, and express their own life and ministry.

2. We move ahead through projects more than through structures, that is, in terms of objectives that are precise, clear, attainable, and time-bound. 3. We promote processes rather than isolated activities, that is, by gradually implementing the different operational stages.

4. We generate co-responsibility on all levels by getting persons and institutions interested right from the start, and respecting their respective competencies. 5. We encourage synergy thus creating a real network of relationships and collaboration. 6. We foster effective coordination of initiatives through joint planning.

7. We make sure that the processes begun during the preceding six-year period are continued and consolidated. 8. We evaluate continuously the unfolding of our plans as well as their final outcome.

9. We create a climate of confidence and mutual collaboration between the Department and the Provincial Delegates and their Teams.

10. We foster relationships with the national centers and inter-provincial teams, with the provincial youth ministry delegates and teams, and with the provincials–the ones primarily responsible for the animation of youth ministry in the provinces.

We foster relationships with the Salesian Family and the local Church, and maintain tighter coordination and collaboration with the Departments for the Missions, Social Communication, and Formation.
