What can be said about the current generation? Socratic Seminar Prep What can be said about the current generation?

Fold your paper in three parts, horizontally Fold your paper in three parts, horizontally. Label your name, date, and class period. Then, number the parts 1-3 on the front of your page and 4-6 on the back of the page.

In the following slides, I will present quotations from various sources, that comment on the current generation. Your job, as I present the slides, is to write any and every comment that comes to mind as you read the quotes. You will only be given a few minutes per slide to react. BE THOROUGH. You will be using these thoughts and comments to prep for a mock Socratic Seminar. Think about concrete details to support those thoughts/claims as well.

Now, you will be paired up with a partner to discuss your comments, reactions, and ideas surrounding each of the quotes. Use the question stems provided to create a set of higher-order thinking questions that apply to each of the quotes. Your job in the creation of questions is to guide your classmates toward MEANINGFUL discussion. No basic questions allowed. In fact, your grade will be greatly affected if you choose to ask lower-level questions. You will only be given 15 minutes to prepare for this Socratic Seminar. You cannot waste time being shy! Your grade will also involve your interaction with your partner. Let your personal feelings go on this matter. I chose partners at random. Be courteous to your new partner, and make an effort to work together for the good of the seminar. Remember, the quality of the seminar rests on your shoulders.
