Theme Guidelines Make use of the default themes that come with MS PowerPoint; you can find them under the DESIGN menu item of the PowerPoint Ribbon:
Background Guidelines If you use a dark background theme, make sure that the text color is: WHITE LIGHT BLUE LIGHT ORANGE LIGHT YELLOW NOT A DARK COLOR SUCH AS THIS OR THIS
Image/Video Guidelines Don’t add images that are larger than 1 megabyte Don’t add more than 2 images per slide Ensure that the images match your theme (don’t put images with a dark background on a dark themed slide) While it is in fact possible to embed a YouTube video in your slideshow, it’s better to just pause the slide presentation and launch the YouTube video from a web browser. This helps keep the size of your presentation to an optimal size.
Don’t use fancy fonts Font Guidelines Always try for 28pt or larger. Don’t use pastel or light fonts, especially on a white background. Remember that what you see on your computer screen is not going to look like the same color on a projector screen. Don’t use font size that is too small Always try for 28pt or larger. Use a common font such as Arial
Margin Guidelines – Don’t do this OBEY MARGINS! Leave at least 1 inch on the left, right, top and bottom, to ensure your slide is readable. Don’t do this. If you find you are exceeding the space available to you on one slide, then split the information into additional slides.
Content Guidelines – Don’t do this: As a company we pledge to you that we will always reduce prices when possible. No one wants to pay a lot for products that they need! We also pledge to stay innovative, and to ensure our products are high quality. This is another sentence.
