Ideas on how to Create a CCAMPIS Program This is simply a guide, not the rule, in creating a successful CCAMPIS Program

Every CCAMPIS Program will be different, as much depends on the type of school, the level of degree the student-parent is seeking, and where the CCAMPIS program and/or advisor is housed

Connect with the student-parent Always, “parent first” this is the most important role for them, and should be to you too Know their children; they all may not be attending the campus childcare or affiliated provider Be familiar with their degree and educational path Know their economic situation Have monthly check-ins with the student-parent Utilize social media to reach out and connect Ask for help through your institutions marketing dept. Recruit a student to help!

Connect the student-parent to the institution Know the resources available to all students on campus, All institutions are different: Academic Support Services; tutoring, library research, quiet study areas, etc. College Mental Health Counseling/Health Services Disability Support Services Financial Aid Support Career Services Student Life Joining a club engages students

Create a club Create a Parent Support Group/Club Student-parents “run” and design the group CCAMPIS Advisor could be a club advisor to the group, and guide them Helps to bring attention to student- parents on campus Helps to connect student-parents

On campus club events Examples of Club Events: Annual Dress for Success event Collaborate with Career Services Collect donated career wear from faculty and staff Event is typically held week before the annual Career Fair Annual Toy Drive Collect new and gently used toys, books, puzzles, and games Host this event over two days in December Open to all student-parents to “shop” free! Engage other groups and clubs to help

CCAMPIS Workshops Meet the student-parent where they are; offer a few different time of day workshops Morning or day-time workshop Online workshop Evening workshop; invite the whole family!

CCAMPIS Workshops Survey Question’ Example’s 1. I felt that the workshop was well organized and the main points were well covered and clarified. 2. The guest instructor was clear and precise in her demonstration. 3. I felt that the facilitators demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter. 4. I felt that the facilitator conveyed ideas effectively and clearly and the material was informative and easy to understand. 5. I was included in the conversation, and my ideas/thoughts were heard 6. I gained usable skills and will be able to apply them to my personal life. 7. What was the most valuable aspect of the workshop? 8. What could have been done to improve the workshop? 9. Additional Comments or suggestions: Reach out to local organizations and ask them to do a workshop about their services Reach out to different departments on campus Always, send out a short survey to gain feedback on the workshop effectiveness!

CCAMPIS workshops Example’s of Some Themes: The CCAMPIS Workshop is typically designed to focus on Parenting Skills. However, many themed workshops could include both parenting skills and strengthening student skills Example’s of Some Themes: Time Management Living on a Budget Back-to-School Boot Camp Culture and Traditions Online Workshop
