Simple solution Solubility is the amount of solute that will dissolve in a given amount of solvent Drugs have different solubility in various solvent, some of drugs are freely soluble in water while other are the case. Therefore, it is important to chose suitable solvent as vehicle in the preparation of a solution for medical use

Types of solutions Liquid in liquid solution Gas in liquid solution Alcohol in water Gas in liquid solution Ammonia in water Solid in liquid solution NaCl in water

Classification according to method of preparation Solution prepared by simple solution method Solution prepared by chemical reaction Solution prepared by simple method with sterilization like ophthalmic solution irrigation solution Solution prepared by extraction

Classification according to their use Mouth wash Injection Drop Spray Oral solution enema

Preparation of simple solution Weigh solid ingredient(s) and mix them together, then dissolve it in ¾ volume of the vehicle in a beaker or conical flask Subtract any volume of liquid if exit in the prescription from ¾, and dissolve the solid ngredient in remainder of ¾. After dissolution of solid ingredients, add any lquid ingredients if exit. Then complete the volume by adding of the vehicle Keep prepared dosage form in a suitable container then label it

If the solid ingredients in form of crystalline ; mortar and pestle to grind it well so as to decrease particle size ( improving solubility of the solid by increasing surface area Chose the solvent that dissolve solid ingredients easily ( like dissolve lik) Pink label use for external preparations and white label for internal preparations

Thank you
