Focus Your Conclusion Remember to vary your sentence structure Don’t forget about your target audience Avoid introducing new information Be sure that connection between your event and the historical/literary moment is clear Provide closure

Summarize Summarize Information In fact, skateboarding is good exercise and great fun for boys and girls.

Convince Convince the reader of your feelings and experience Without a doubt, bike helmets save lives.

Challenge Challenge your reader to think. However, they should be thinking about the insightful nature of your comment – not thinking and trying to figure out what you meant. Not everything on TV is worth watching; stop and think before wasting time.

Encourage Encourage your reader to take action, relate to, or learn from your story. When adults witness young children making a dangerous or unusual decision, it is the adults responsibility to redirect the children.

Theme Have a central message or lesson learned. What significance and/or perspective can be deduced from the two events? Make sure the reader understands why the events are important.
