Follow the following steps with your partner’s work Highlight in BLUE the C (citation) It should be WORD-FOR-WORD from the text It should include a page number in parenthesis at the end of the sentence If it does not, make a note of what it should include Highlight in GREEN the E (explanation) of the citation/evidence It should be thorough and clearly explain how the author USES the literary element It should connect the citation BACK to the theme It should be 2-3 sentences long IF IT DOES IT’S JOB!  click on!

Follow the following steps with your partner’s work REPEAT the highlight of ICE steps (they should exist TWICE in the paragraph). If they do not exist twice, the paragraph is NOT complete and make a note! Circle any of the following elements you see: You, Your, You’re I, me, my, we, our, us Underline THREE sentences where the wording could be clearer or more sophisticated. TRADE PAPERS BACK!!

Follow the following steps with YOUR work Look over your peer’s feedback and ask for any clarification you might need. Note – ELIMINATE ALL words that your peer circled (unless they are directly from the text you quoted) Respond to the following questions on a sheet of paper or below your own writing: What do you notice about the highlighting? Does it look as if you clearly responded to all parts of ICE? What are THREE goals that you have for this paragraph and future paragraphs? Be specific!

NOW…what? Fix any part of your first paragraph that needs work to be outstanding. Write the second body paragraph (about the second literary element in your thesis!) Be prepared to put it all together next class 
