2018-19 MODIFICATIONS TO EVENT Digital Video Production Category: Prejudged Projects & Presentation Type: Individual or Team This is a Modified Competitive Event: Reduce length of video to two minutes. This will give competitors time to present the entire video during the presentation.  Overview Two (2) parts: a prejudged project and a presentation. Competitors must complete both parts for award eligibility.

2018-19 MODIFICATIONS TO EVENTS Digital Video Production Topic: Create a video promoting Giving Tuesday donations in order to benefit FBLA. The video should discuss Giving Tuesday as the recognized Tuesday after Thanksgiving event that developed around social media and online donations, how FBLA can benefit from it, how it can impact the organization, and how/where to make a donation. Skills: This event provides recognition to FBLA members who demonstrate the ability to create an effective video to present an idea to a specific audience.

THE GOOD, BAD & UGLY OF REGIONALS & SLC THE BAD/UGLY Student group not in their correct Prelim Section at SLC Cost Final Round for this group Up to the STUDENTS to make sure they are getting judged in the correct Section ADVISERS: Remind your students that it is up to them to make sure they are with the correct judges. Have students introduce themselves to the judges and double check the schedule and tent card on the table to make sure they have the correct section. If working a preliminary event as an Adviser, make sure you have the correct students you are escorting over.

THE GOOD, BAD & UGLY OF REGIONALS & SLC THE BAD/UGLY, cont. Some advisers not showing up to their Adviser Assignments Please make sure you show up Every Adviser MUST work an event Had judges getting kids and running the event because an Adviser did not show up to work Middle School announced as the winner for Sweepstakes We’ll make sure we have a list of Middle Schools at Headquarters to avoid this again.

THE GOOD, BAD & UGLY OF REGIONALS & SLC All judge’s scores were double checked in Headquarters Individual Finalists were posted by the time Opening Session was over Display boards by doors with scheduled times All Finals were posted on Facebook (improvement from year before) All finalists were posted by 12:15 on Day 2 of SLC Competitions were fair-Headquarters checked every student for eligibility Disqualifications for students who performed illegally We started all events on time, no having judges/advisers/students wait

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED? IDEAS FOR IMPROVEMENT Remind App & Conference App Will print only a small number of Paper Programs/need to use Conference App THOUGHTS? Continue to Register for all events in DLG Even Chapter ones (won’t count against a student’s eligibility) Asked DLG to see if they can update this so it is under “Chapter”, we’ll see if they get it done before Regional Registration. Other ideas from Advisers-OPEN FOR DISCUSSION Value ideas from Advisers-want continuous improvement for SLC & Regionals
