Five insights ‘Peer’ is more about skill than just sameness Peer approaches are not about disseminating information Peer programs can be a strategic asset to organisations Peer models might let low quality non peer services ‘off the hook’ Prevention of HIV and hepatitis C might be an emergent effect of the networks and cultures that peer based programs engage with Peer programs can be a strategic asset to organisations – when practitioners learn from constant knowledge exchange with peer clients and contacts and organisations are able to capture, translate and share real-time knowledge this generates about the issues, communities and cultures they are engaged with
