Parenthetical citations These are added after a statement or sentence. MLA generally uses author last name + page number, if available. With online articles/sources, use only the author’s name. For example: “The only numbers Spicer cited were from the WMATA” (Ford). You SHOULD ALSO use parenthetical citations when paraphrasing and summarizing.
