A Handbook for Human Behavior The Psalms A Handbook for Human Behavior

Psalm 20: Why Trust God? His Nature is Perfect All of God’s attributes ( righteousness, faithfulness, omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, holiness, and sovereignty, lovingkindness, and immutability, can be trusted. God cannot deny his character. In Psalm 20, we see a blessing being pronounced. In verse 1-2, the prayer asks God to assist in time of trouble. Verses 3-5, there is a petition for God to see the righteousness and love toward Him from His servant. It asks God to respond in love and through salvation to the right desires of His people and to answer prayers. Verses 6-9 declares the faithfulness of God to fulfill His promises to His people. Why do you trust? Is it God? Or something else?

Questions When was the last time you prayed for other believers? READ PSALM 20 When was the last time you prayed for other believers? What did you ask God for? Were you confident in God’s ability to help them in their time of need? What about you? Do you think God will help you? Why or why not. What is different about your situation? What are you trusting for help? Pray: Ask God to show you ways that you are not trusting Him. Ask him to give you peace about His ability to help. Thank God for His answer. Thank Him for the situations He will give you to work on your faith.

Prayer & Application What does it tell you about God? Read the Psalm again slowly: What does it tell you about God? How does it apply to you? How can you apply this to your life? Ask Him to show you how to apply it. Thank God for the experiences He will give you to help you learn this.
