Art Fundamental Independent Study Summer School Course Elaine Hudson Kim Peck Janmarie Halliday

Summer School Fine Arts Independent Study format-work at home Complete a ten credit (one year) Art Fundamental’s course in 5 weeks Follow course syllabus for assignments Meet with teacher once a week

UC Fine Arts Credits Guidelines A-G UC approved Art courses cannot be done online Students must have regular one on one time with instructor Cannot miss one week of instructor time for guidelines to be met Work load is condensed into 5 weeks of assignments, art projects, and instructor time. Tests must be proctored.

The Program Students will meet once a week, on a designated day and time, with their teacher and turn in work. During the weekly meeting, students are required to correct their assignment and take a test. This can take up to two hours. Students may NOT leave until all of their work is graded and they have taken a test. There are no excused absences in independent study. Due to the accelerated nature of the course, students will not be allowed to miss their appointment. Students who miss their appointment, or leave early will be dropped.

INDEPENDENT STUDY AGREEMENT Independent Study requires a written agreement between parent, student and teacher. Written agreement includes: course taken appointment day and time manner of meeting is face to face all parties must sign agreement (student, teacher, and parent) assignment cannot be given without signatures

APPOINTMENTS Tuesday or Wednesday appointments starting June 28 Morning appointments from 8:15-10:30 a.m. Afternoon appointments from 1:00-2:15 p.m. Tues. or 1:45 Weds. Students are not allowed to miss appointments or change appointments. Summer school ends Wednesday, July 27

SIGN UP PROCEDURES Line up under the sign that lists the day and time you want for your weekly appointment and sign up. You will be given an art book, a master agreement, and a course syllabus. Fill out the information on the top of the agreement and sign/date the bottom (student and parent) Turn in the signed form to the basket, pick up project paper and a rubric on your way out.

First Assignment Students follow syllabus for weekly assignments Read assigned chapters Define vocabulary terms at beginning of chapters Take notes for test Complete “Check your Understanding” questions Complete “Chapter Review Questions” View power point art lesson on school website and complete art project Return next week on appointment time to correct assignment, turn in art project, and take test. Grading counts as follows: 1/3 written work, 1/3 project, 1/3 test.

Project One: 6” 6” 6” 6” Divide your 18” x 24” sheet of paper into 8 9” x 6” boxes. Measure with a ruler on top, bottom and sides to make boxes even. Draw with ruler to make lines neat. 9” 9”
