Author Study Grade 7 LA

Define What are you about to do? Make some kind of presentation that teaches you about a author and helps you to learn to better understand and appreciate literature. Define

This is where you will do some research to figure out how you are going to do this project Please perform extensive research in order to make an informed decision on which author you choose to study Please provide a list of websites you used to search for information Half a class to complete this (20 min) Discover- Day 1

Narrow it down to 1 author using whoever you find most interesting (refer to the list we give you). Discover 2-3 Books they wrote Go to school library or public library Find the author’s website and read some background information on them. Author- Day 2

Develop a clear idea on the kind of presentation you want to do (you can use this PowerPoint option, Prezi, Poster, etc.) Presentations should be about 8 minutes long and include all group members. Dream- Day 2

Create your NOTES PAGE providing a comprehensive summary that includes the important information listed below: Use the research you did to make sure you answer these questions and go beyond these main points for full marks! Who (Full Name) What (What type of author are they?) Where (Where were they born? Raised?) When (When were they born? Start to write?) Why (Why did they start writing and why are their books famous?) How (How did they become inspired to write?) Design- Day 2 and 3

Design- Day 2 and 3 Take your NOTES PAGE and create your presentation. Remember that NOT ALL your notes will go on the presentation! You need to make clear headings on each slide or part You need to have important bullet points that you can talk about and elaborate on using your memory and your notes page. Reading off your notes or off your presentation is NOT acceptable presentation etiquette! Design- Day 2 and 3

This is where you rehearse and memorize your presentation Every student in the group has to play a role in the presentation part to get a good individual mark for your oral presentation. Divide the speaking parts up as equally as you can.
