Sociological Perspectives on the Family Date: Saturday, 12 January 2019 Sociological Perspectives on the Family To recap the 4 Sociological perspectives To apply these perspectives to the family To evaluate which perspectives you feel are the most accurate Starter – How do these pictures link with the family? TIF – what keywords do they represent?

Homework due Monday 3rd Feb Your group has two weeks to: Complete your revision guide Revise for an assessment

Skimming, Scanning & Summarising Skimming 1 - Only read the headings and look at any pictures/tablies. What do you think this text will be about? Skimming 2 – read the first sentences of paragraphs (topic sentences) to get the gist of what it is about. How can you summarise the text so far? Scanning – run your finger down the centre of the text to focus your look for key content, keywords and names of studies. Summarising - you have 5 minutes to summarise the text in your own words, remembering the importance of keywords and names of studies. TIF – Now try to condense this entire text into 15 words max!
