11th Grade Schedule Refer to the course list on the back of your form New course offerings are indicated with an asterisk (*) Refer to course catalog online at www.cusd.com/students/ Write selected course number in the Number column

New Courses for 2018-19 Computer Aided Design & Engineering: • B or better in Math 1 OR • B or better in a higher level math course AP Computer Science Principles: Contemporary Issues in Education (HP- Honors/Weighted)- English course for 11th grade students in the Education Pathway Only! Must be in the Education Pathway 2.5 GPA requirement C or better in English 10 or Exploration in Child and Adolescent Literature Concurrent enrollment with Careers With Children CTE course Link to application: http://apply.teacherpathway.com Team & Individual Sports (Unified PE)- signature from Mr. Thiessen (Room 175) or Mr. Gonzalez (Room 192) required If 4 semesters of Core PE is complete Rehabilitation Therapy Careers (CTE) – 2 period course This course is designed to provide the student with opportunities to learn transferable skills related to entry-level occupational and physical therapy occupations, explore career options, and become knowledgeable with post-secondary educational requirements as related to such careers options. ***These courses will be offered based on student enrollment

11th Grade Schedule English 11 AP Composition: Write in the course number next to the English course choice. AP Composition: A in English 10 or A/B in Honors English 10 Consistently score an 8 or better on essays graded on a 10-point rubric

AP Courses Student should have: solid work ethic, self motivated, solid reading, writing and thinking skills Students taking AP courses are expected to take the AP exam in May AP courses may include a summer assignment Be aware of your course load. A balanced schedule is important Students will be required to complete the CNEC AP Agreement before being enrolled Students will not be allowed to enroll in additional AP courses once school starts! You have up until the end of the 4th week to drop.

11th Grade Schedule PE Write in the number next to Physical Education choice. Sports PE- write course number for your specific sport (.A , .B, etc.) Cross-Age PE requires a signature from your current PE teacher. Team & Individual Sports (Unified PE)- signature requires from Mr. Thiessen (Room 175) or Mr. Gonzalez (Room 192) required Students with 2 or more AP classes have the option of Directed Studies PE, if 4 sem. of Core PE is complete. CART and CTE will waive PE; if 4 semesters of Core PE is complete.

11th Grade Schedule AP United States History: A in World History or A/B in AP World History, AND A in English 10 or A/B in Honors English 10 or A/B Exploration of Child and Adolescent Literature AP Psychology: (must meet all three prerequisites) A in English 10 or A/B in Honors English 10 or A/B Exploration of Child and Adolescent Literature, AND A in Science or A/B in Honors or A/B in AP Science

US History in Summer School There is an option for students with impacted schedules and a 3.0 GPA to take this course during summer school. Fine Art electives do not count towards an impacted schedule NEW INFORMATION: Social Science courses (World History or US History) can only be taken ONE time during Summer School for original credit.

11th Grade Schedule Math/Elective Write in the course number next to the Math/Elective course choice. Students are placed in math classes based on semester grade. 2nd semester grade will be checked before confirming student placement for 2018-19. You need 2 years of math to graduate (Math 1 and Math 2) CSU/UC require 3 years (up through Math 3), but 4 years is recommended

11th Grade Schedule Math/Elective Continued Math 2: Math 3: 70% or better in Math 1 Math 3: 70% or better in Math 2, OR 70% - 79% or better in Honors Math 2 Honors Math 3: 80% or better in Honors Math 2 Statistics: 70-75% or better in Math 3 Advanced Math: 75% or better in Math 3, OR Below 80% in Honors Math 3 AP Statistics 90% or better in Math 3 & must be concurrently enrolled in Advanced Math AP Calc AB 80% - 92.4% or better in Honors Math 3 AP Calc BC 92.5% or better in Honors Math 3

11th Grade Schedule Science/Elective Write in the course number next to the Science/Elective course choice. You need 1 Year of Life Science and 1 Year of Physical Science to graduate The minimum requirement for CSU/UC is Biology and Chemistry OR Physics, but 3 years is recommended

11th Grade Schedule Science/Elective Continued Biology: Passed Science 1 Geology: Not meeting the prerequisite for Chemistry Chemistry: A or B in Biology/Honors Biology in 10th grade, AND 80% or better in Math 1 Honors Chemistry: A in Biology/Honors Biology in 10th grade, AND A in Math 1 or Math 2 Physics: C in Chemistry, AND C in Math 2 Anatomy & Physiology C in Biology

11th Grade Schedule Science/Elective Continued AP Bio: A in Biology or A/B in Honors Bio, AND A or B in Chemistry AP Chemistry: A in Chemistry, AND A in Math 3 AP Environmental Science B in Biology, AND B in Chemistry, AND B in Math 2 AP Physics 1: B in Math 3 AP Physics C Completion of AP Calculus AB, OR Minimum of concurrent enrollment in AP Calculus AB

11th Grade Schedule Electives Write the course number in the box provided Consider class choices to be FINAL. NO schedule changes will be made unless there is an incorrect placement. IMPORTANT: Class balancing takes place within the first two weeks of the school year. Class schedules MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. All students will need to choose 2 Alternate Elective courses. World Language Spanish, and French are offered- no prerequisites are necessary. More space is available in French 2 years of World Language is required by the CSU/UC system (3 years is highly recommended)

Other Elective Options Performing Arts Most performing art electives have unlimited seating Application Electives (A) Applications were due February 2nd which included all teacher recommendations (Peer Counseling, Leadership, Service Leadership (Unified Mentoring) & Yearbook) CART/CTE Speak with your counselor about these course options CART Requires an online application Due by February 9th CTE Refer to CTE brochures for additional information No applications required You must provide your own transportation for CTE Taken 1st/2nd or 3rd/4th or 6th/7th

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Students who are motivated to succeed Students who need support in developing a plan for college Students who are willing to try new strategies to reach their goals Students who are willing to work harder Students who want to attend college Student who have satisfactory citizenship, good attendance, and G.P.A. of 2.5-3.8.

Summer School Students planning to apply to a 4 year college should repeat any semester grades of D. Students who received an F should repeat those courses over the summer to meet graduation requirements Be sure to indicate which course you need to repeat on your registration form under Summer School Plans NEW INFORMATION: Social Science courses (World History or US History) can only be taken ONE time during Summer School for original credit. Elective PE is offered over the summer through Independent Study one time for 10 credits

***IMPORTANT: Summer school session preferences are not guaranteed.*** Purpose: Summer school is primarily designed for remediation or making up deficiencies toward graduation. Location: Alta Sierra Intermediate School (Independent Studies & Face to Face) Independent Study Summer School Dates: June 12th-July 25th IMPORTANT: Students cannot miss orientation!!! Orientation is June 12th OR June 13th. Regular Summer School Dates: June 18 – July 26 Time: 8:30am-2:35pm ***IMPORTANT: Summer school session preferences are not guaranteed.*** Attendance: Students will be dropped on their 2nd absence. No exceptions will be made. DRESS CODE WILL BE ENFORCED

Additional Information Refer to your course catalog online Remember- the catalog includes courses offered at all High Schools in CUSD. Take home these materials and review them with your parents No parent signature = no registration! AP contracts will be due at registration Students will not be allowed to enroll in additional AP courses once school starts! You have up until the end of the 4th week to drop. Registration form is due to your English teacher on March 2nd. Registration will be on March 5th and March 6th in the Library Lecture Hall.
