DID YOU KNOW?? Autism now affects 1 in 110 children and 1 in 70 boys Boys are 4 times more likely than girls to have autism More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes & cancer combined There is NO medical detection or cure for autism Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S

I am a person with Autism. I can be loud. I have a hard time understanding things in our environment. I don’t always know how to communicate what I am thinking. I struggle to socialize with people around me. Sometimes I prefer to play alone. I might repeat words or phrases that I have heard or seen. I like to have the same routine. Sometimes I repeat movements like rocking, spinning or hand flapping.

Use pictures or write down what you want to say to help them understand better. Join your friend in activities that interest him/her. Be patient-understand that your friend doesn’t mean to bother you or others. Invite your friend to play with you and join you in group activities. Sit near your friend whenever you can and help them. Help others learn about autism by telling them about your special friend. Devonte is a great friend to Kevin!!
