Mrs. Hicks’ Classroom News Jan. 17, 2017 Mrs. Hicks’ Classroom News Terrific Kids:   1/20 Dhathri Riley Scholastic Book Order – we will be ordering from our January Scholastic catalogues this week! Please submit all orders by Jan. 20. As always, there is at least one book that is $1, and selections on your student’s reading level abound!! You may also order online with our class code: https://clubs.scholastic.com/home KB9YT Math: We are continuing our unit on Decimals. We will be adding and subtracting decimals and making change. Science: We will be focused on Earth Science for this 9-weeks. This week we will be looking at the Southwest Desert and Central Plains Grassland. ESS2.A: Earth Materials & Systems: Rainfall helps to shape the land and affects the types of living things found in a region. Water, ice, wind, living organisms, and gravity break rocks, soils, and sediments into smaller particles and move them around Grove Valley Auction – Feb 10th The auction is quickly approaching and our class is putting together a "Rise and Shine" basket to help raise money for our amazing school! Every donation will help to make our basket great. If you would rather send money, please label it "auction basket" and we will collect it from Mrs. Hicks. Thank you for all your support in helping make this the best auction yet!  Creek Classic - We are very excited to announce the 21st Annual Creek Classic Race, which is scheduled for March 4, 2017. Creek Classic attracts runners from all over the state and continues to grow each year.  Creek Classic is an annual event that is a district wide fundraiser for Deer Creek Schools.  Also, as our district continues to grow, so does the need for educational items to help our schools, students and teachers.
