Why is it necessary? 180,000 people die each year from burns 95% of deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries Non-fatal burn injuries are a leading cause of morbidity Global data collection on burns  currently fragmented

What is the WHO’s aim? Identify burns risk factors Conduct Assessments Clarify main burn risk factors and risk groups Conduct Assessments Enable international, regional  and national assessments Burns prevention programming Enable targeted burn prevention programming

What does the GBR registration process involve? Register hospital facility Complete paper form for each patient Upload data online to GBR

How is data collected? Simple, short, checkbox driven paper form 2 pages Available in English, French or Spanish Takes 5 minutes to complete  Filled out by clinical staff During the non-acute phase of admission
