Class Procedures and Expectations What do I do if …..

Fire Drill Mrs. Johnson’s class lines up out on the west bus lot on the line marked D7 If there is a fire drill in between classes, go to the next class’ line up location Line up quietly (yes, that means NO talking at all)

Arriving Enter the classroom quietly Sit in your assigned seat Begin working on bell work

What do I do if? I need to sharpen my pencil? I raise my hand and ask to get out of my seat I need to wait until instruction/discussion has stopped.

What do I do if? I need to use the restroom? I wait until after the first 10 minutes of class. I bring my agenda to Mrs. Johnson for her initials. I sign the sign out sheet on the door.

What do I do if? I was absent? I find the folder with the day I was absent in the black box which is at the back of the room. I have one day for each day I was absent, plus one additional day to make up the work. It is my responsibility to pick up the work and turn it in on time.

What do I do if? I am going to turn in an assignment late? It is Hillcrest Middle School’s policy to NOT accept late work. Projects, long-term assignments and writing assignments may not be turned in late. They must be turned in the day they are due.

What is the classroom discipline plan? 1st: Redirection 2nd: Minor Incident Report with Interventions 3rd: Minor Incident Report with Interventions and Parent Contact 4th: Minor Incident Report with Interventions and Parent Phone call home – you are there, too! 5th: Major Behavior Referral It is possible to skip steps and go straight to an office referral for extreme/severe behavior

What do I need to bring with me to every class? Pencil and pens Lined paper ELA notebook/spiral SSR Novel (MUST HAVE THIS BY MONDAY)

When is homework collected? Homework is collected at the beginning of class. If it is not handed in when it is collected, the work is considered late.

Located in the upper right-hand corner of your paper Heading on Papers First and Last name Date Class Period Assignment Title Located in the upper right-hand corner of your paper

Notebook and Other papers Notebooks need to be organized by tabs All notes, handouts, and graded work needs to be kept in the notebook in chronological order

Where do I find out what we are doing today/this week? To find out what we are doing today, I look at the agenda on the board To find out what we are doing this week, I look at agenda on the board I can also look online and find out what we are going to be doing.

Expectations when working in a group Only one person gets the necessary supplies Begin working If you have a question, ask your group first, check the instructions, then ask Mrs. Johnson When you are done, clean up your area (including the floor).

Homework: Review this power point online and/or your notes. Be prepared for a quiz Tuesday! Book blog #1 is coming up – you need to have your novel by August 23rd.
