Credentialing There are two primary types of credentialing Licensure Granted by governing bodies State or federal laws define the standards Licenses are typically mandatory Certification Non-Governmental agencies may grant certificates Qualifications are set by professional associations or by industry. Certifications is typically an optional credential
Apprenticeships Paid, relevant workplace experiences Opportunities to develop skills that employer’s value Provide affordable paths to good jobs and ultimately, careers
GI Bill Utilization Information on eligibility for benefit programs can be found at www.gibill.va.gov/ as well as documents and forms which will aid school officials Can be used for certificate programs and licensing and certification tests VA can only pay for the cost of the tests and not other fees connected with obtaining a license or certification
