The RE ILT Menu: Indian religion NAME: DATE DUE: You will need to choose one task from each course. The spicier the task, the trickier the skills it requires. ONE of your three tasks needs to be at least a medium. House points will be awarded if you have tried your hardest and have put effort into your projects so try and the complete the hardest tasks you think you can manage. Use a paper clip or staple to attach all three tasks to each other and use this sheet as your front cover. If you have any problems see your teacher before the deadline day. Mild Medium Spicy Course 1 – What can we learn from the Wheel of Life? Create two pictures or collages, each on a separate piece of A4 paper. One picture should show what you think it would be like in the ‘World of the gods’ where everyone is happy and nothing goes wrong. Your second picture should show the human world where people are able to study, think and be creative. Write a detailed paragraph describing your pictures and explaining your creative ideas. Create two pictures or collages, each on a separate piece of A4 paper. One picture should show what you think it would be like in the ‘Hells’ where people are full of hatred. Your second picture should show the animal world where people are happy as long as they have enough food, drink and comfort. Find two examples of a fictional character who lives in each world. Provide evidence to support your choices. Create two pictures or collages, each on a separate piece of A4 paper. One picture should show what you think it would be like in the ‘World of the aggressive gods’ where people would do anything to succeed and beat their rivals. Your second picture should show the ‘World of hungry ghosts' where people are never satisfied, always wanting more. “Dissatisfaction is a modern disease that only leads to destruction and death.” Give three reasons why someone might agree; Give three reasons why someone might disagree; Conclude with your opinion supported with three reasons. Include references to Buddhist teachings in your answer. Course 2 – How do Hindus express their beliefs? Use the internet and books to make a fact file on the goddess Kali: Explain the jobs she does, her skills & knowledge and character. Draw a picture to show what she looks like, and add labels to explain the meaning behind the picture. Explain two reasons why a Hindu today may want to worship Kali. Make up three fact files on the Trimurti gods: Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the preserver) and Shiva (the destroyer). Include a picture to show what they look like, what jobs they do, their skills & knowledge and their character. Which god do you think a Hindu may want to worship? Explain three reasons why. Use the internet and books to do your research. Do Hindus worship one God or many gods? Explain three reasons for your answer. Course 3- What do Hindus and Buddhists Believe about the afterlife? Hinduism teaches that each person has a soul which is permanent and moves from one life to another at death. Ask 5 different people what their opinion is and what their reason for their opinion is. Bullet point the 5 different answers and make sure that you write their reasons in detail. Hinduism teaches that each person has a soul which is permanent and moves from one life to another at death. The Buddha taught we are extinguished at death, but our actions cause things to happen in our future lives. Ask 5 different people what their opinion is and what the reason for their opinion is. Summarise each view and explain the reasons for their opinion in detail. Finally, write your own opinion giving two reasons for this. Research Hindu and Buddhist beliefs in life after death using books and the internet. Identify three similarities and three differences between their beliefs. Then create a PowerPoint slide show to present your findings. Add a conclusion slide in which you should explain your opinion towards these beliefs and why you think that different religions have different answers to the question of life after death.
