Presentation transcript:

LA: Friday, October 12, 2018 Handouts: * Directions for TAPP Assignment * TAPP Rubric 2. Homework: * STUDY for Lit Test #2, Lit Terms—test is Tuesday, Oct. 16 Study Cornell Notes #7, Literature Terms Study Cornell Notes #8, Power Verbs * Complete TAPP #2, due Wednesday, Oct. 17, BOC Select from QW #9 – 21, extend it and polish it No late work—follow TAPP directions and TAPP rubric 3. Homework due: * Are you studying for your Lit Test on Tuesday?

Lesson Goal: Students will analyze the results of their TAPP #1 piece then discuss directions for TAPP #2. Outcomes: Be able to . . . Select any one of your Quick Writes from #9 to #21. Copy your QW double-spaced onto notebook paper. Extend (lengthen) what you wrote: This is your rough draft. Apply the steps in the 6-step writing process: 1) Pre-write (select one of your QWs & copy it double-spaced) 2) Turn your copied QW into a rough draft—extend and improve 3) Edit your rough draft, using editing symbols 4) Type out your edited copy of the rough draft 5) Print out and proofread the typed cop 6) Insert corrections, print final copies, no errors Use the Directions check sheet to ensure you complete requirements. Staple your rubric, polished print-out, and rough draft to hand in.

Starter #1 In a moment I will return your graded TAPP #1 piece, which was based on QWs #1 – 8. Please keep these on your desk, as I need to collect them after our discussion. We will look at the rubric used for that piece and answer any questions you may have. When we finish, we will discuss our next TAPP piece and examine the directions, rubric, and a sample TAPP.

Starter #2 Your next TAPP assignment is TAPP #2, based on Quick Writes #9 – 21. Please turn to your first handout, Directions for TAPP Assignment. Fill in the blanks on that handout this way: TAPP Assignment #2 Your finished TAPP is due Wednesday, Oct. 17, BOC—no late work Select a Quick Write from QW #9 to QW #21. Note that a SAMPLE of a correctly formatted TAPP is on the back of that direction sheet.

Starter #3 Please turn to the handout titled, “TAPP Rubric” This is similar to the rubric used for your first TAPP. But there ARE a few changes. Let’s check that out. . . . Note that this time, you all must have a rough draft—handwritten on notebook paper, double-spaced. It is a copy of the Quick Write you select, but you must add to what you wrote in class. You must also show your editing—what you inserted, what you deleted, and all corrections. Rough drafts are designed not only to catch and correct errors, but also to improve what you wrote. Your rough draft should demonstrate the effort you applied not only to lengthen your Quick Write, but also to improve it—to make it more clear, concise, and compelling.
