WC 10th October 2016 School Colours

What are the school colours? Deyes High School is a large community and that makes it exciting. Every one of us has our own likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses but we all strive to enjoy our time at this school. We all bring different aspects of our lives, our talents, and our interest to the school. This makes our school an interesting place to be, with lots of different activities to take part in and challenges to achieve. We all value people first. At School we need to value each other and to remember that each of us has our own strengths and talents. The school colours show our commitment to the school, not just in academic terms, but to the entire life of the school and its ethos. How do you express your interests within school? Is it in a club or activity? If not, is there a club or activity you could join?

Our School Colours In school, we hope that many of our students will receive the school colours. These show others in and outside of school the commitment you have given to life and community of the school. These activities are shown opposite. Which do you think is the most important? Why? Here are the school colours. These can be found on Page 26. You should spend time filling this in and getting your Head of Year or Form Tutor to sign.

Being a Role Model What do these quotes mean? Do you agree with the quotes? How do they link to the school colours?

Donald Trump for President? A big debate will took place this weekend in America between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the two people trying to become the next President of the United States of But one of them, Donald Trump, has landed himself in some big trouble after comments he made about women ten years ago have been leaked. In the past Donald Trump has used words like "pig", "fat" and "ugly" to describe women he disagreed with. Now, an audio recording has revealed that he said even worse things about women. Since the recording came out Donald Trump has released a video statement where he apologised for the comments. But, Hillary Clinton has said that these comments are not comments that a future President should make. She says that his words will have a negative effect on women and girls. People in Donald Trump's own party party have said they strongly disagree with the things he has said. Some of them have said they will no longer be supporting him in the election. The President of the United States of America is one of the most powerful and important jobs in the world, and the winner this year will take over from President Barack Obama. Do you think this is acceptable behavior? Should a person who is campaigning to achieve such a powerful role set this kind of example? Would his behavior be in line with our Core Values?
