Claim Evidence Reasoning

Youtube Time: Question: What is your dad?

Answer the Question Claim Little girl’s claim: My dad is a space alien.

What Supports the Claim Evidence What Supports the Claim Little girl’s evidence: My dad speaks a weird language, drinks green stuff, looks strange and drives a spaceship

Why Evidence Supports Claim Reasoning Why Evidence Supports Claim Little girl’s reasoning: Space aliens communicate in a different language since they are from a different world than our own. The food space aliens eat is gross compared to what we eat on Earth. Space aliens have weird body shapes and everyone knows space aliens fly spaceships!

After These Messages, We’ll Be Right Back

It’s Your Turn QUESTION: What happened to the cat? Spend 30 seconds writing down a claim (an answer to the question) that can be supported with evidence from the video. You are only writing a claim.

QUESTION CLAIM (an answer to the question) EVIDENCE (summary of the data, including measurements, calculations, and observations) REASONING (supports the claim based on the evidence)

Add your evidence! Write ONLY the evidence that supports your claim. What did you see in the video that makes your claim true? Do NOT tell us why you chose this evidence!

Add your Reasoning! NOW tell us why you chose this evidence! Example: The (evidence) supports my claim because (explanation).

Did anybody write down “The dog killed the Cat” as their claim? What was your evidence? What was your reasoning? Did anyone make a different claim? This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY
