DAY ONE ACTIVITY: Getting to know you/ getting to know our class
Presentation transcript:

Pre-AP/AP Chemistry Welcome to the class! Please check the roster for your seat number and grab a piece of card stock.

Getting to know you (and me) Fold your cardstock lengthwise. 1 Write out your FIRST NAME and LAST INITIAL using a contrasting marker. 2 Finish by bending down the edges so your name card stands up. 3

Questions??? Slide your desks together, then find out the following about your partner: One thing they are looking forward to in chem One thing they want to know about the class or Mr. Chase We will share out in a few minutes.

The Great Escape! Get cuffed to your partner and find a way to escape. Rules: Don’t slide your hand out Don’t cut/break the rope You can’t do it for any other groups

The Great Escape! What was the goal of this activity? When you figured it out, what did you do? GOAL: never specified. Get out and you’re done? Help others? NEXT: you need to focus on more than just yourself here. What does a real victory look like?

Speed Quads Rotate into a group of four without injuring anybody or breaking anything.

Wrap Up What were the key ideas from today? What did you learn about goals and assumptions? Tonight, read through the syllabus and sign the safety page.
