Background Water Crisis – improper governance and lack of effective accountability mechanisms World over, 80% of the people living in rural areas do not have access to safe drinking water Health and survival of life is in jeopardy MDG aims at halving the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation by 2015 Better water governance could change the situation 26/06/12 2 2
