Major Accomplishments MS in Information Technology – Spring 2011 Dr. Shu-Ching Chen was named Fellow of the Society of Information Reuse and Integration (SIRI) Dr. Vagelis Hristidis received $550k via the NSF CAREER and Google Research awards and was promoted to Associate Professor Dr. S. Masoud Sadjadi was promoted to Associate Professor and the NSF PIRE project that he leads received excellent ratings in its third year site visit 1/13/2019 FIU CIS Industry Advisory Board

Outstanding Student Accomplishments Jorge Guerra, a PhD student supervised by Dr. Raju Rangaswami, received the most prestigious and highly competitive IBM Ph.D. Fellowship, one of only 40 awarded worldwide. Fausto Fleitas, a Ph.D. student supervised by Dr. Shu-Ching Chen, was awarded the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce's Technology Leaders Award in the "Top Technology Student" category. Tariq King joined North Dakota State University as a tenure track Assistant Professor Fernando Farfan joined the University of Michigan's database group – one of the strongest in the country – as a post-doctoral researcher Selim Kalayci will join East Tennesee State University as a tenure track faculty member. 1/13/2019 FIU CIS Industry Advisory Board
