Similarities and Differences Region: The Great Basin Men: Summer: Breechcloths Winter: Added deerskin shirts, leggings, and moccasins. Women: Dresses of skins, later cotton. Decoration: Porcupine quills, elk teeth or beads. Region: The Great Plains Men: Summer: Breechcloths Winter especially in the northern part of the region: Added deerskin shirts, leggings, and moccasins. Women: Dresses, leggings, and moccasins. Sometimes beaded in beautiful colors. Decoration: Elk teeth or porcupine quills. Similarities and Differences between the regions Similarities The men in all the regions wore breechcloths in hot weather. The women in 3 of the regions wore dresses. The men in all the regions wore leggings and moccasins. The women in 3 of the regions wore legging and moccasins. Differences The women in the Great Basin wore dresses of skins, later cotton. The women in the Great Plains sometimes wore dresses beaded in beautiful colors. The men in the Northeast Woodlands added deerskin shirts in winter. The men in the Southeast Woodlands added fur shirts in winter.
