Information to Review for Odyssey Part I Test

Important terms and terminology- epithet- an alternate name or nickname used to identify someone hubris- excessive pride or defiance of the gods, leading to punishment epic simile- a long, descriptive comparison between two things in medias res- Latin for "into the middle of things." It usually describes a narrative that begins, not at the beginning of a story, but somewhere in the middle — usually at some crucial point in the action.

The order of events from the beginning of the narrative to Odysseus leaving Circe on pg. 1225 (see map we reviewed yesterday and your study guides) The characters from Part I (see pg. 1191 up to book 10) The background information (see your background quiz from a few weeks ago)
