Location The Maidu lived in the Northeastern part of California. The area that Maidu lived was the moun- tain valleys.           They lived in the Plumas county and Lassen county.

Shelter In the winter they lived in a underground house called earth lodge. The houses were round with diameters of from 20 to 40 feet. They had round houses and cone shaped houses made of poles covered with bark.

    Shelter 

Food They used spears to hunt animals. They gathered acorns, pine nuts, nuts, and berries.  They collected  grasshoppers and crickets.

Culture The Maidu made tattoos  by piercing the skin with fish bones or pine needles. They danced with sounds like swishing They made baskets , nets, bows, arrows, knives, and spears.
