MT Lesson #2

ID = Intradermal

Dr = dram (1/8 oz. fluid)

Gr = grain

M = minim

Ss = semesis

CV = Cardiovascular

AP = Angina pectoris (pain)

ECG = Electrocardiogram

CHF = Congestive heart failure

CCU= Coronary Care Unit

MI = Myocardial Infarction

CPR = CardioPulmonary Resuscitation

MVP = Mitral Valve Prolapse One of the more common heart valve conditions. Valve functions improperly.

RHD = Rheumatic Heart Disease Damage to the heart, especially the valves as a result of rheumatic fever. May have inflammation of the myocardium.

Of or related to the atria and the ventricles. AV = Atrioventricular

In the upper part of the right atrium, Is a bundle of neurons known as the heart’s natural pacemaker. SA = Sinoatrial (node)

ASHD = Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease

ASD = Atrial Septal defect A hole between the atria, if not fixed blood will go into the right atria, enlarging the right side of the heart. ASD = Atrial Septal defect

CAD = Coronary Artery Disease Fatty deposits in the arteries, thus narrowing the arteries. CAD = Coronary Artery Disease

PFO – Patent foramen ovale This is a congenital heart defecting caused from the foramen ovale not closing shortly after birth. PFO – Patent foramen ovale
