Very Sad Evaluation Proposal Comments. Pull it together so your paper is doing what it should be doing.

You have some work to do to make sure you really understand what category and criteria are.

I would recommend getting a bit more specific (and interesting I would recommend getting a bit more specific (and interesting!) with your category.

Make your audience care. Intrigue them. Entertain them. Inform them Make your audience care. Intrigue them. Entertain them. Inform them. This is a part of your grade.

This needs to be a "thing" not an argument or assessment.

Your “thing” is by definition your category Your “thing” is by definition your category. What I mean is that there’s no dispute that the thing can be categorized the way you suggest because it is commonly assumed to fall under that category. For example, “I’m going to evaluate Kate as a professor.” Because I am a professor and there’s no dispute, I just am one, you’d need to categorize Kate under something that’s not necessarily a fact that everyone can agree on: “Kate is the most brilliant professor at Penn State.” You’d have to prove that by holding Kate up to criteria you develop that define a brilliant professor.

Watch for “convenient criteria” which is criteria that only applies to your “thing.” You should be able to check other “things” against your criteria.

An evaluation paper is not a comparison paper An evaluation paper is not a comparison paper. You need to choose one “thing” to evaluate against specific criteria that come from a category.

You have some work to do to make sure you really understand what category and criteria are. Make sure you really understand all of the components of the evaluation.

Please reconsider and resubmit a proposal that addresses these issues.
