NEOMIN – Teacher Assistant Module eSIS User Group Meeting February 8, 2006

Staff Security Need for TAM grading access and other eSIS access Options: 1. Create 1 TAM account with other eSIS privileges. The teacher would log into TAM & navigate to other applications as needed. OR 2. Create 2 accounts: 1 for TAM and 1 for eSIS. * Do not create 1 eSIS account and have teacher navigate into TAM, especially when implementing the gradebook.

Pre-Scheduling & Year Round Scheduling Make all scheduling course changes before teachers set up preps and add assessments. It is CRITICAL that School Schedule, Reporting Period Start Dates, and Course Start Dates match with the start and stop dates of courses in Course Section Maintenance.

Final Grades A teacher must enter a final grade upon the conclusion of a course, or the program will do it for them. Teachers should not click the Calculate Final button in their gradebook until the end of the course and/or end of the year.

36 Week Course Semester Average & Exam Add extra Reporting Periods for Semester 1 Average and Semester 1 Exam. Make sure Reporting Period weights are set properly. Information will be housed in teacher gradebooks. Teachers will print a report & hand enter the figure into Mark Entry.

Withdrawn Students If a student is scheduled to a course and then withdrawn, (even if it is only one day) they will appear in the teacher gradebook in RED. Reason: The gradebook needs to keep record of students coming and going as well as an account of any assignments they had during the class. Teachers may use the Sequencing feature to place students at the bottom of the list in the gradebook.

Gradebook Assignment Order Assignments appear in the order of Due Date and then alphabetically by assessment name.

Team Teaching Gradebook Options Teachers may share gradebook information. Place the 2nd teacher in Course section maintenance as teacher 2 room 2. This 2nd teacher will be able to modify assessments, add grade, run reports, and view information.

Total Points as the Mark Calculation Method Navigate to School TA Config to set the Default Grade Calculation Method to Total Points and check mark the Enforce Default Grade Calculation Method.
