Mission: To accelerate the use of entrepreneurship knowledge among students, entrepreneurs, professionals and educators regarding opportunity recognition and actions for creating, refounding and growing successful enterprises; and to highlight the critical importance of entrepreneurship to local and global quality of life.

Most exciting activity? For graduate students interested in biotechnology, our popular Bio-Entrepreneurship program combines the full Bioengineering curriculum, 5 Entrepreneurship courses and a thesis related to technology commercialization.

Biggest challenge: Our biggest challenge relates to human capital—finding ways to ensure that faculty and staff are not “spread too thin” given academic programs at the Ph.D., MBA, and undergraduate levels combined with numerous broad community outreach programs.

New initiatives: Our current push is to expand upon our BioEntrepreneurship program and spread Entrepreneurship across the University—into other Engineering programs as well as Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing and Liberal Arts. We are strengthening ties between the Business School, the Office of Technology Management, and the campus’ technology incubator
